Description

A totally different and colourful experience in St. Lucia Estuary

It is all in the name; Serene-estate is pervaded with peace and serenity. The guesthouse is situated at the border of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park (new name for St. Lucia Greater Wetland Park). Its architecture is a specific Dutch design based on Nouvelles Formes (bend lines) and new to South Africa. We have tried to achieve an optimal synthesis between modern architecture and African nature: a minimalistic approach with the warmth of African atmosphere. To emphasise the diversity we have used different colours in painting and special lighting effects.

The 4 spacious and very luxurious guest rooms have via big windows a direct view onto the park and guests can enjoy the bushbuck, red duiker, monkey, mongoose, bush baby and a variety of birds and insects. After sunset sometimes hippos can be spotted and if you are lucky even a leopard.

Together with our warm hospitality we are convinced we can offer our guests a quality product and a maximum of convenience.

From this comfortable base you can explore the area. Because of the size, diversity and high quality of the tourist attractions you'll never regret to stay for a longer period of time in St Lucia.

St. Lucia Estuary is part of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, KwaZulu-Natal's coastal World Heritage Site. It is an array of natural lakes along the north-eastern coastal plain extending south from the border with Mozambique for more than 220 kilometres to St. Lucia Estuary (330.000 hectare). It is the last pristine subtropical area and largest wetland in Africa. The park is characterised by a broad diversity of local and migratory wildlife, marine and bird species.

This area is free of malaria.
