Activities

Out on the water
A visit to Knysna would be incomplete without spending quality time on the tranquil waters of the lagoon estuary.

As part of the unique personal service offered at Kanonkop, we offer lagoon fishing trips with Mark, who is a qualified and experienced skipper, aboard our fully equipped motor boat. Mark will also take you water ski-ing and wake-boarding and will give tuition if required. Or, if you prefer something more relaxing, take a sunset cruise aboard our luxury speed boat and watch the lagoon transform into shimmering molten liquid under an orange sky. Spellbinding!

Guests are also welcome to make use of Kanonkop’s double and single canoes to explore the waterways. We’ll even pack you a picnic lunch!

Head off into the forest
Whether you prefer a gentle stroll or a strenuous hike, Knysna’s magnificent, age-old indigenous forests will soothe your soul. There are numerous trails in the surrounding forests and we will help you select the one best suited to your fitness level.

For those who enjoy cycling, Kanonkop has two mountain bikes for guest use and we will transport you to bike trails in the forest and fetch you later.

Laze on the beach
There are several fine beaches in the vicinity of Knysna. The beach at Brenton-on-Sea offers kilometres of rolling waves washing onto pristine golden sands, defined by towering sand dunes. Magnificent! Further along is Buffalo Bay, a safe family swimming beach favoured by both locals and visitors.

A Shopping extravaganza
A vibrant mini-metropolis catering largely for the tourist trade, Knysna offers visitors a wide range of fascinating shopping experiences. Whether searching for curios at informal road-side markets or browsing around up-market tourist shops in affluent surroundings, you will be amazed at the selection and quality.

Chris has a special interest in diamonds, having worked for De Beers for many years, and confidently recommends our local diamond producer and manufacturing jeweller.

Whatever you’re looking for, be it an unusual holiday souvenir or, perhaps even a new holiday home, we can point you in the right direction!

Plan ahead
We have extensive knowledge of both the Western and Eastern Cape, particularly with regard to game safaris, and we can you help you plan your itinerary if you intend touring the area. We can also give advice on places to stay in the Winelands, throughout the Garden Route and in the Eastern Cape. Please don’t hesitate to enquire.
