In the heart of all this beauty, between Somerset West, Strand and Gordon’s Bay, is a country lodge that delightfully incorporates everything that is special about the area, South Africa and its heritage. Chelaya Country Lodge is truly a home away from home, combining old-world charm with modern hospitality. An intrinsic feeling of warmth and family resonates through every element of the lodge making guests feel part and parcel of the family experience right from their arrival.

Upon buying the farm in 1997, the farm’s name was Serendipity. With a bit of digging they found that, 45 years ago, a family moved from Kenya to the Cape and named it after their Swahili chef, Chelaya, who came with them. After learning of the farm’s African routes, they renamed it Chelaya.
